10 Workout Motivation Tips

Working out is essential to keeping your body and mind healthy. But getting the motivation to actually go out for a run or hit the gym can be hard. To help you out, here are 10 great tips that’ll make switching out of your office gear and going to work out that much easier.

1. Join a Workout Group

Having exercise classes or an outdoor workout group can help to keep motivation up. Paying in advance will make you less likely to put it off, and it’s a lot harder to make excuses not to go if you’re exercising with other people.

2. Be Realistic

If you’re just starting to create a workout routine, don’t jump in at the deep end. If you set a goal to work out every day when you know that you probably don’t have the time, don’t do it. Setting yourself smaller targets, such as going to the gym once a week to begin with, will be easier to achieve and make you less likely to give up.

3. Get a Workout Buddy

Finding someone to work out with will mean you can’t skip your dates. Even if you’re feeling tired or lazy, knowing there’s someone waiting for you to get up and out will make it a lot easier.

4. Stay Competitive

Set challenges with your workout buddy that’ll motivate you both. For example, even if you don’t work out with them, you can both share the time it takes you to run a few miles every week, seeing who gets the quickest.

5. Get the Right Gear

Feeling good in your workout clothes can be a great motivator. If you actually want to put on your exercise gear because it makes you feel and look great, you’re going to be more likely to do it. Just remember to learn how to remove ink stains from clothes so you can keep yours gym wear spotless.

6. Work Around You

If you know you’re bad with getting up in the morning, don’t set your workouts for this time. Or, if you know you’re tired when you get home from work, find another time in the day to get out and exercise. Finding the perfect time to work out for you and your routine is essential to keeping your motivation up.

7. Choose the Right Activity

There are loads of things you can do to workout and finding something you actually enjoy will make it a lot easier to get out and do it. From swimming to yoga, there are a ton of options.

8. Use Social Media

Social media can be a great tool to inspire and motivate you to keep fit. You can follow fitness accounts or post your workout goals on your own account and make your followers hold you accountable for achieving them. You can even get some competition going between friends, posting what you’ve all achieved in your fitness routines every week.

9. Give Yourself Rewards

Acknowledging your own achievements is a great way to boost motivation and encourage yourself to work out. Set rewards, such as buying that bag you’ve been wanting for ages if you stick to your workout routine for one month.

10. Have Fun!

Remember to actually enjoy exercising and the feeling during and after you workout. By focusing on the positive feelings you have whilst exercising, you’ll be more likely to get up and go out next time.

For me personally, having a definite purpose have always been the best motivation. If you always keep in mind why it is important to workout then, you won’t need any other motivation what-so-ever. Working out makes you look better, makes you healthy, improves your focus, improves mental health, even makes you social(if you are working out in a gym). Even if you keep these things in mind, they are amazing motivators in themselves.

These are some really great tops. Choosing right workout, right gears and a workout buddy make such a huge difference. My workout buddy was my husband when we used to make sure to hit gym every single evening in colder months. I was so fit. I need to do that again.
