Grills Galore @ Pindi

Pindi is a nice enough sounding name and I assumed it must be another one of those restaurants serving Indian cuisine, but a visit here changed my perception.

I visited this restaurant a fortnight back with fellow foodies to try out their food specifically their grilled appetizers.  I am quite new to this part of Bangalore city namely HSR but it was simple enough to locate them as they are on the main Road though by the service road. They are located on the 3rd and 4th Floor and parking is available at the basement of the same building.

Since I was among the first to arrive I did a bit of research and understood that though they are fairly new to Bangalore they are part of a chain of restaurants first started in Delhi in 1948. Coming from Delhi, they mainly specialize in North Indian and Mughlai cuisine. They have now 5 outlets including the Bangalore one.

They have two floors – an air conditioned floor (3rd floor) which has the regular buffet spread and the roof top (4th floor) which serves the over the grill appetizers in addition to the ala carte and Unlimited Food + Drinks packages.

Since it was dinner we were asked to try out their roof top seating which is absolutely wonderful especially with the current Bangalore weather and helps destress at the end of long day. It was only 8 pm but the place was packed and that goes to show how popular the place is considering HSR has many other good food joints!

At the entrance to the rooftop, they have an open grill section. The ambience of the roof top is quite simple having small beautiful planters on the walls and hanging from the roof and not to forget simple filament bulbs hanging from the ceiling which added to the charm of the place.

We started with our drinks and being a large group ordered different cocktails and mocktails.

I ordered for a Shirley Temple cocktail which turned out to be baby pink in colour very surprisingly! The drink though was well prepared and tasted good.

In addition, I also had a mocktail – Virgin Mojito which tasted refreshing and chilled thanks to a lot of crushed ice.

Next up, the starters! Their grill was the highlight of the day and we tried the following,

VEGETARIAN :

Paneer Tikka, Tandoori Gobi , Tandoori Aloo, Tandoori Sweet potato and Tandoori Mushroom.

Most of the grilled items were well marinated though it was a bit cold by the time we got to eating them since we were busy with taking pictures of it all !!

For me, the Chicken Seekh was the starter of the night with less marination but soft and succulent minced chicken. We ordered for more of this starter and I am happy to mention their consistency is excellent and this too vanished in a jiffy!

They also did serve us a special veg starter called Paneer Kurkure which as the name suggests was a layer of bit of papads making it crunchy on the outside with soft paneer cubes on the inside. This was something quite different and well liked.

For main course, we tried their Mutton Biriyani, Chicken Biriyani, Butter chicken and Dal makhani accompanied by Butter Naan, Cheesy Naan and Roti.

Among the Main course, I enjoyed the butter chicken. The dish consisted of soft, boneless chicken in rich, thick and buttery gravy.

The Dal makhani was thick topped off with a dollop of cream and taste wise it was quite good!

Both Biriyani’s tasted quite different from the regular biriyani which I am used to, though I must say it was quite flavourful and light on the stomach.

Finally, the desserts consisted of Gulab Jamuns, Gajar ka Halwa and Fruit Cream. The Gulab jamun was the best of the lot though I need to mention I do not have much of a sweet tooth!

Pindi is a good dining option if you want to have a long, relaxing dinner with friends or family surrounded by the lovely weather of Bangalore and Unlimited Food and Drinks!
