‘Inclusive Flavours of The LaLiT’ – Fruit Mixing Ceremony | The Lalit Ashok | Bangalore

Fruit Mixing is an event being covered by almost every hotel in Bangalore and The Lalit Ashok is not far behind though their theme is quite unique as it is not only about Christmas but being “Diverse and Inclusive”. Christmas as we all have grown up remembering is the season of joy and giving and what better way to spread happiness than being open minded about the different communities which live among us and welcoming them in our life and celebrations.

The Lalit Suri Hospitality group has been at the forefront driving the revolution and celebrating ‘Inclusive Flavours of The LaLiT’. In the past 6 months, they have been part of several path breaking events – as hosts, participation, inviting international artists and guests from all communities. Their theme for the Christmas and New Year 2018 is to amalgamate and amplify the same at a Group level and celebrate ‘Inclusive Flavours of The LaLiT’ with their official Mascot – ELPHIE in rainbow colours. A word not familiar to most of us – ELPHIE does not adhere to any particular religion (is secular) and is non-binary (gender agnostic) hence dressed in rainbow colours. Elphie has been placed in all the rooms of the hotel for almost three years now and guests relate to it.

The Lalit Group intends to promote this message of diversity and inclusivity by hosting more events over the course of the next few months such as
– Elphie Flea Market
– LGBTQIA Brunches
– Pet’s Brunches
– Leisure properties to plan pet friendly staycation.
– Get together for differently-abled people.

The Fruit mixing ceremony was held on 4th November at The Poolside attended by bloggers, celebrities, well known social media influencers, in house guests and staff. The location by the poolside was perfect for an evening get together and the weather reminded me of the good old Bangalore days where the sun occasionally pops in keeping it breezy yet comfortable to all.

Though it was a fruit mixing ceremony, the walkway to the table meant for the mixing was lined up with lovely looking savoury and sweet bites from Bacon wrapped chicken puffs, Smoked Salmon Eclairs, Puri with masala aloo to Macaroons, Paan cheesecake and many more. No Christmas begins without wine and they had it in flowing along with champagne for the more discerning.

The showstopper for the evening was none other than the centre rectangular table decorated with all kinds of dry fruits such as cashews, figs, raisins, almonds, fig etc in the form of a rainbow to signify their theme ” Inclusive Flavours of The LaLiT”. Beside this table laden with dry fruits, the different spirits to be mixed were laid out for the guests.

After the customary photographs we were ready to start the celebrations and armed with a decanter each we begun pouring the spirits into the dry fruit mixture while the Chefs added different spices to the mix. Donned with Chef hats, aprons and gloves we dug into the fruits giving it a good toss. Everyone’s spirits were sky high thanks partly to the aromas emanating from the table and the entire fruit mixing process went on for a short while with the staff ensuring everyone had an opportunity to join in.

The fruit mixing was followed by the high tea specially curated for this event by Chef Ashish Sanyal leading the way to a pleasant evening by the poolside with a little catching up and some getting to know each other. A wonderful way to end a memorable evening!

A special mention to the The Lalit Group for a theme which holds a special place in my heart and I am happy to see such a well known Hospitality Group leading the way!
