5 Ways To Improve Your Indoor Air Quality | Healthy Living

Air pollution has been a major concern in today’s world. People mostly recognize the dangers posed by the outdoor pollution but, they do not realize the effect of indoor air pollution. Compared to outdoor, indoor pollution is a much bigger problem for our health, which is caused by a build-up of dust, dirt, mold, humidity, and even by some other harmful allergens. Breathing such an impure air can cause serious health effects like lung diseases and other respiratory problems. Considering the health impacts of indoor air pollution, it is very important that people should actively work towards improving the indoor air quality and make it free of contaminants.

Breathing quality indoor air is important in order to have good health and it can also prevent many health hazards. By understanding the importance of breathing clean air, people started using different ways at home that can help in improving the quality of indoor air. Some of the ways are mentioned below:

Keep Air Purifying Plants: As per NASA Clean Air Study, there are few houseplants that can help in eliminating toxic agents like benzene, trichloroethylene, and formaldehyde from indoor air. Plants like Boston Fern, Palm Tree, Rubber Plants and English ivy can effectively help in improving the quality of indoor air.

Improve Ventilation: Having a well-ventilated house can easily assist in evacuating the indoor air pollutants thereby keeping your interior pure and fresh. Proper ventilation can even lower the concentration and even ensure that the air circulation in and out of the room remains properly balanced.

Install Air Purifier: No doubt the above-mentioned ways are very effective in improving the quality of indoor air, installing an air purifier can also be helpful in this process. There are different brands of air purifier available in the market, which you can select according to your preference. But, before you purchase you need to ensure that the air purifier should have few of the features like CADR, air quality indicator, air filter (should be HEPA), Real-time air quality monitor and etc.

Avoid Synthetic Fragrances: We use perfumes, hand soap and even synthetic fragrance at home. Do you know from these products produces different harmful Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) and synthetic chemicals that are harmful to health? Instead, you can use fragrance-free products that have natural scents.

Use Beeswax Candles and Salt Lamps: To neutralize toxic compounds, harmful contaminants and even to freshen up the indoor air you can use beeswax candles. You can also use the Himalayan pink salt lamp, which is another natural ionic air purifier. These lamps can pull toxins from the environment and neutralizes the air making it fresh to breathe it.

Follow the above-mentioned ways to maintain pure and healthy air in the home. Always remember that breathing fresh air can clean the lungs and can even assist in bringing more oxygen to the cells. It can increase the brain functionality, improve blood pressure and heart rate thereby making you healthy.

Thanks for telling me that having proper ventilation around the house can get rid of the possible air pollutants that we have indoors. The news this morning had mentioned that a lot of households suffer from bad air quality and since I have asthma, I shouldn’t keep it that way for our own home. It might be a good idea to consult a professional and see if installing a residential bipolar ionization unit can help in providing the good air quality that I need.

Indoor air quality is really important! When we breathe polluted air pollutants get into our lungs; they can enter the bloodstream and be carried to our internal organs such as the brain. This can cause severe health problems such as asthma, cardiovascular diseases, and even cancer and reduces the quality and number of years of life.

Some plants really make a big difference if you keep them in your home. They give fragrance and color. They absorb negative energy.
