As We Approach A New Year!

The approach of a New Year always brings a tingling feeling as you wonder when the year just went by in a flash. For me it is a time to reflect on what I have achieved the past year and reminisce about the good and bad times that went by.

Now that we are officially in the last month of the year, I have been wondering what New Year’s means to each of us. Does it mean just another year or are you the kind of person who sets goals and goes about achieving them. To me, it has been always been about trying something new every year be it work related or a hobby. Last year I set out with the goal of trying something different and I am glad to say I have more successful that I ever expected to be. This year too, I intend to set realistic goals for myself and I am sure each of you reading this have something they have been meaning to get around doing.

While there is a lot to think about the coming year, there is also the excitement of “D Day” namely New Year’s Eve which is one day celebrated by one and all irrespective of colour, caste or religion. In my younger days I would be raring to step out and party all night long. Now in my late 30’s I still enjoy a good party and luckily enough there are many options for great parties in the city of Bangalore. Living in this city for the last 15 years, I have realized nothing beats a New Year’s Eve party here.  It is one night where you shed your inhibitions and have a rollicking time with either friends or your loved ones. I have always loved hanging out with friends and family as they are some of my best memories ringing in the New Year.

There are other options too where you can bring the party to your home, it can be a themed party or just a quiet dinner get-together with friends and family, where you don’t have to worry about travelling to and fro and the party can go on as you call the shots.

There’s no rule that you have to enjoy New year’s eve by just partying, sometimes just staying at home and watching it unfold on TV may seem like just what you are in the mood for.

While staying in can be fun, I recommend planning in advance to get your buddies together and select a good party to attend (to avoid crazy crowds!) as this night comes only once in a year and you deserve to make it memorable.

After all, New Year’s means different things to different people but I do feel it is a time to bid adieu to the past year and bringing it in the happiest way possible is a must.

So what does a starting a new year mean for you? I would love to hear your thoughts on it!

we usually like spending out time thanking God for his care and kindness for the year that is going by and also welcoming the new year by being in his holy presence. I do not remember doing it otherwise since years.

That’s such a beautiful article. I would want to go back and read it again and again. Rohini just amazing the word flow is! For me New Year is more about self pampering so usually I am sitting in front of my Lappy watching friends or a good movie and of course a large pizza all to myself 😁

I am neither a party animal nor even like clubbing. I always celebrate new year in the most quietest way possible. I love food so go for the dinner that day.

Quality time with yourself and your family is what new year celebration has come to. Few years ago it meant alcohol bath though! 😁
