Box Full of Surprises @ BOX 8
With the onset of many food delivery start ups, I have been keen to keep trying all of them in the hope I can find one thats suits my taste and of course my mood!
It was one of those lazy days when at a friends place I decided to give these guys a go and since we were a big group and I being the foodie of the group the decision rested on me to to order.
While I understand that Box 8 has a simple and easy to use App, I landed up doing all the ordering via their website. Their website is clean and simple to use and the whole ordering process took me just 10 mins.
A bit about what I know about and read about Box 8 – Founded by IIT graduates, these guys have one simple motto – to serve food that they would like to eat. In other words, simple ghar ka khana!
What started as a small outlet catering to corporates, they now have their presence in Bangalore, Mumbai and Pune and turning out to be one of the fast growing food delivery chains in the country.
Every once in a while it is nice to order a roti and a separate gravy but how feasible does it work out in cost if you are one person ordering. The cost would be high as well the quantity too much for one person to complete.
Keeping this in mind, Box 8 has “All in One Meals” where you get a good choice between Vegetarian and Non Vegetarian and is provided all in one tray which is easy and convenient. In addition, they also have Wraps, Sandwiches, Salads as well as Ala Carte items.
ALL IN ONE MEALSÂ :
Along with the Main Gravy that your choose ,one has a choice of Rice or Paratha , Dal Makhni or Dilli Chole with the All in One Meals. Other sides are Salad and Gulab Jamun for desert.
VEG EXTRAVEGANZA MEALÂ
This meal consisted of Paneer Makhni along with grilled Veg Patty, Dille Chole, Salad and Gulab Jamun. The Paneer Makhni was very good with the right texture and softness in the Paneer. The Chole though a bit high on flavour was a good combo for the Paneer side.
PANEER MAKHNI MEAL
Similar combo except for no veg dry item in this meal.
CHICKEN OVERLOAD MEAL
This was a combination of Rice, Kebab, Dille Chol,Paneer Makhni, Salad and Gulab Jamun. The Kebab was surprisingly soft inspite of not being warm and the dip of pudina chutney was good. All other sides were the same.
PANEER TOSSED SALAD
This salad was a hit among the group as it was light, fresh and crunchy and was over in a jiffy!
BOMBAY SPECIAL SANDWICH
This sandwich had a nice ring to it hence decided for the heck of it to try it. Turned out to be a good decision as it was packed with yummy veggies including corn and a nice subtle sauce.
TANDOORI PANEER WRAP
This was the only item that did not have many takers as the whole wheat wrap turned out to be crisp making the wrap quite difficult to eat. Inspite of the tough exterior, the paneer filling inside was really tasty and almost made up for the initial hiccup.
DESSERTS:
MOONG DAL KA HALWAÂ
Simple but yet a light and flavourful dessert which is not too heavy on the stomach.
CHOCO LAVA CAKE
A deceptive looking lava cake which is absolutely yummy once you dig in.
BEVERAGES:
ICED TEA
For a bottled Iced tea, this was not too bad, though I would prefer to go for their Lemonade.
As my friends put it, it was a simple yet a great meal and I echo the same sentiments. My experience with Box 8 was excellent and I hope they continue to serve us for a long time to come.
