Chaat Cravings @ Yumlok
Chaats used to be a favourite savoury snack during my college days. Due the dearth of good and hygienic chaat outlets, I have not had the opportunity to try out some authentic chaat items for a long while now.
I recently heard about Yumlok from fellow foodies who met up here but unfortunately I could not make it that time. The name is definitely catchy though in this case I assume the owner was referring to the yumminess of his chaats!
Though Whitefield is close to home, I have not been to Inorbit Mall and finally managed to make it to the mall with the sole intention of trying out some of their chaats.
It was a nice windy Saturday afternoon in Bangalore perfect to sit outside and enjoy some snacks and I was lucky enough because they are located at the entrance of the mall with outdoor seating capacity of 5 to 6 tables.
They have an interesting at the same time precise selection of items ranging from Classic Chaat, Tikki, Dahi, Puri and also Pulaos, Rice, Parathas and some beverages.
One look at this menu and you would notice the excellent price range which would draw in all kinds of crowd.
CHAATS:
DAHI PURI CHAAT
Simple yet refreshing with all the flavours hitting the right note.
MUTTER TIKKI CHAAT
I am more of an Aloo person but decided to give this a try and it turned out to be yummy (YUM-LOK).
PANI PURI (GOLGAPPA)
My favourite among chaats though I hesitate to have it in most places for fear of water contamination issues. However after seeing their set up and having their chaats I decided to give this a go. The pani puri’s could do with more stuffing but the taste was excellent, though I must mention since I had it at my table I did mix up the khatta meetha pani to suit my taste.
PAV BHAJI
Simple enough snack but they have smashed the bhaji which adds so much more flavour to it and the extra dollop of butter makes it perfect.
SWEET JALJEERA
A refreshing drink to end the meal. They do have a choice of Lassi, Masala Chas and desserts – Gulab Jamun and Rasgulla.
So if you crave good authentic chaats that are value for money do drop in here.
They also have another outlet in Brookefield as well a chaat delivery service in and around Marathahalli called Dial-A-Chaat (www.dialachaat.com).

thank you, Rohini, for visiting my blog – especially as its led me to your lovely one!
am in Los Angeles area, where we have a wonderful ‘Little India’ in Cerritos – just went to google translate ‘chaat’ & it defined it as ‘licking’ – is that correct? whether or not, your photos make me like my lips with hunger 🙂
Thanks for returning the favor by visiting my blog too. Chaat is an Indian short eat more common on North India. It’s a mix of a lot of flavours and tastes very good.
What a chatpata post.
