Dial Into the Vibe @ Koramangala Social
A long pending post for a lunch visit to the then “new Social” in town. Church Street Social set the trend in hangouts spots in Bangalore for youngsters as well as the young at heart with their unique and fun lounge. After their success in Whitefield they finally opened their social in the food hub of Bangalore – Koramangala.
This particular visit was with my office gang to celebrate a birthday and though it was meant to be a quick lunch, something about the place made us spend a good 2 hours here.
Though I have been to the other Social’s I must mention the Koramangala Social ambience is the best of the lot and the greenery adds a lot to the general atmosphere of the place. The vibe when you enter this lounge is catchy and the quick smiling attenders definitely charm you all the way.
They have 2 floors of seating, the lower floor open all day and the upper terrace floor open from 5 pm onwards. I assume Bangalore summer is gonna keep everyone in the lower area till late evening anyways.
BEVERAGES:
Their menu is varied with choices from Social Special Signatures, Classic Cocktails, LIIT’s, Sparklers, Shots and many more.
Since it was a working day most of us stuck to mocktails – Spiced Guava, Khus & Chilli and Pink Cream. The Spiced Guava was by far the best drink among the mocktails though the others were also well liked by the group.
Only one of us decided to brave a Strawberry Margarita which was quite mild perfect to suit an afternoon meal.
STARTERS:
Fully Loaded Nachos – A dish which needs no introduction. Definitely fully loaded and yummy.

Chinese Bhel – An interesting way of serving bhel with the additional of some chewy tamarind bits.
Among the other starters, the Old School Chicken Tikka though looked a bit less in quantity made up with excellent taste. Prawns Sesame on Toast was an after thought and turned out to be the most unique among the dishes ordered. Every bite gives the taste of prawn flavour and the sesame seeds on top made it crunchy.
We had a vegetarian in our group, hence the order for a good ol’ Paneer Tikka which was soft and had some mild flavours, a bit on the bland side.
MAIN COURSE:

Mac n Cheese – The comfort food of many Americans has a lot of takers nowadays in India and though simple to cook up, this particular dish tasted heavenly.

Achari Basa – My choice of the main course was deliberate and well thought out as I have had it at their Whitefield Social and fell in love with it. Need I say more!

Butter Chicken Biryani – A dish which caught our attention and ordered just to see if the taste matches the name. Surprisingly the biryani did have the flavours one would find in butter chicken and the combination turned out to be great idea.

Zatar Fish with Kimchi Fried Rice- The choice of a seafood lover who was a bit overwhelmed as the dish at first seemed to heavy for a single person to finish. However the soft melt in the mouth fish had many tasters ( read ME) and was over within no time. I must mention that the idea of Kimchi Fried rice is again an excellent idea and balances out the dish very well.
DESSERT:
Though we were a group of five, we decided to mass order the desserts and dig in together.

Lucky’s Caramel Custard – The name absolutely does no justice to the presentation of this dish. If you thought the dessert looks great, I must tell you it tasted way better. Kudos to their pastry chef!

Layer Cake – As the name suggest, a dessert with layers of chocolate mousse, caramel mousse and nutty chocolate mousse topped with hot chocolate sauce. This one’s for the mousse lovers out there!

Chocolate and Peanut Butter Fondant – A lava cake served with vanilla ice cream. Simple and satisfying.
Since this is a pending post, I hope I have got the names of the dishes right and by now I am sure they have added many more new items to their existing awesome menu.
I was not a big fan of the “SOCIALS” but after a visit though a subdued one during the day I must say they have found a fan in me. I look forward to visiting them at night as I have heard their DJ plays some kick ass tunes.
