In this age of Instagram, there are numerous profiles which claim to offer advice and online training for those needing assistance in changing their lifestyle from their diet to assistance in exercising. One such profile that I came across a while ago was Train with Nair run by Shreejith Nair and I was quite impressed with his story and requested him to do a guest post.
Hello, I am Shreejith Nair. Today people know me as a fitness enthusiast; American Council on Exercise (ACE) certified personal trainer and an ACE certified Lifestyle & Weight Management Consultant.
But not too long ago I used to be a chubby guy with low self-esteem. I was born with a clubfoot. Walking was challenging, and to run like normal kids was far from my imagination. All I wanted was to be able to walk like a normal kid. So I had a special shoe designed for my needs. Growing up was hard. To see the other kids run around and to realize I could never do it was very disheartening. However, I didn’t let that bring me down. At age 12, I gathered all the courage and decided to give Lawn tennis a shot. Now you may ask, how can a kid who can barely walk play tennis??
I always strongly believed in the cliché – ‘Your body hears everything your mind says’.
I took baby steps, sure they were painful but I did not give up. A year later I played my first tournament and limped my way to the 3rd round. I felt like I was on top of the world! At 15, I underwent a surgery to correct my clubfoot. The surgery was successful and had me wearing normal shoes. But it’s during the recovery period that I picked up unhealthy eating practices. I went from being 70kgs to a unhealthy 108kg slob.
Due to my unhealthy practices I developed supra ventricular tachycardia (Irregular heartbeat). This is when I decided that things had to change. I took control. I started working out and followed a healthy diet. I saw my body transform. I got addicted to seeing results. It was an incredible feeling. Now I understand why my career as a game developer did not excite me. I had found my true passion.
My passion to guide & support clients toward their fitness goals is driven by the enjoyment of seeing them reap the benefits. From losing weight, feeling less stressed, to being happier & healthier. When I hear these wonderful results I feel like I am doing what I was meant to be doing. So it keeps me on top of my game, whereby, I want to strive to give the best service as possible.

Exercise builds confidence and happiness, especially as you reach your goals and see your own progress. In my training I strongly believe that there is no ‘one size fits all’ technique, instead each client gets their own unique program that fits them and their needs.
