Buckets of Booze @Hangover
12th Main Indira Nagar, a quiet residential street not long ago has become the Eat & Drink Street of Indira Nagar.
This bar seems to have drawn their ideas mainly from the Thailand where booze flows pretty much on the street. The cool Volkswagen Matador located on the terrace of this bar can be seen from the street and is a great way to get the crowd in.
The bar is quite subtle from the outside except for a huge sign “HANGOVER” which is more visible when illuminated in the evenings. They have 3 bar counters – one on the ground floor and 2 on the first floor with of course their signature VW van converted bar which is quite innovative thinking.
The ambience is quirky with a nice youthful vibe which is a good change from the usual Bar decor in this area. No matter which day of the week you visit the place is buzzing with people and all seem to be quite laidback.
The interiors follow the industrial theme with different types of seating – ground floor ( inside and outside) as well the first floor which has again a rooftop uncovered area as well as covered but an open air area.
The Bar Menu is as simple as it can get but with an interesting array of drinks. The Food menu is a mix of popular Thai, Continental, Indian and Chinese dishes.
BEVERAGES:
SAFE SEX ON THE BEACH
This mocktail is a fruity drink with loads of sweetness added for good measure to wake anyone up!
BLACK Â RUSSIAN
This drink is a personal favourite and it has been difficult finding it Bangalore. A mix of Vodka, Kahlua and Baileys their mix was pretty decent but I have had better.
MARGARITA
Good old Margarita with a lemon base.
GOLD LONG ISLAND ICED TEA
Had to try this new Apple twist to LIIT and it was quite refreshing.
HANGOVERTINI
Apple seems to their speciality and hence ordered this mix of Gin, fresh apple and Martini.
APPETIZERS:
PORK BAO
Bao’s I have ordered normally are bite sized hence ordered 2 plates. Needless to say their Bao’s are humongous with one Bao perfect for one person. Their Bao’s are yummy but a little too spicy having jalapenos as well as green chillies.
FISH FINGERS
Quickly served within 10 mins of ordering. It was fresh and was just the right starter to begin our meal.
BLOODY MARY PRAWNS
This dish sounds interesting and that is was. 6 small dessert glasses filled with spicy salsa with prawns dipped in and covered with lettuce. The dish looked great but a little more effort needed on the preparation.
FRIED CALAMARI
The Calamari was very well prepared and tasted good. Sometimes if you fry calamari too much it becomes rubbery and this was prepared just right.
FRENCH FRIES
They initially bought us chilli fries which the server realized and took it away immediately. The actual fries which came landed up being over crispy. The manager was kind enough to take it away and provide us with a fresh plate of fries. Needless to say, this too was a bit crispy but kudos for the effort and way this was handled.
ROAST CHILLY PORK
Slices of roasted pork mixed with some amazing sauces.
GOLDEN FRIED PRAWNS
Crunchy and mouth watering prawns.
BACON CHEESE FRENCH FRIES
If you love bacon and fries then this is your ideal snack.
MAIN COURSE:
PEPPERONI PIZZA
Excellently prepared pizza with a paper thin crust and loads of cheese and pepperoni.
A small suggestion – Please do include more desserts in the menu.
Hangover has been around for a while now but they seem to have a good crowd and thanks to 2 visits there I now know why.
I would definitely be visiting again and this time post 9pm to check out what they have to offer for the all nighters!
