Rediscover Yourself | Clarks Exotica Resort & Spa | Bangalore
Have you ever felt that you need a break but the last thing you want to do is travel endless hours before finally plonking on your hotel bed tired from the travel itself. While I love travelling, I have realized with family in tow sometimes the closest options can turn out to be the best possible break you can wish for.
Being in Bangalore for the last 16 years, I have been remiss in not visiting resorts and towns within our lovely state and decided that this year I will take time out to do just that. One of those short weekends saw the family and I driving up to Devanahalli to spend a day at the Clarks Exotica Resort and Spa. While I have been hearing a lot about this resort, I really never thought I would land up here for my short getaway.
The resort founded by an NRI entrepreneur and Dubai based business Mr. Ronald Colaco in 2008 is conveniently located on the way to the Bengaluru International Airport.
In fact, only when I reached the gates of the resort did I realize that I have in fact been next door for the Music run the previous year. Nevertheless the family and I were quite impressed with the property as we entered as it did not have the feel of a normal resort and seemed to be like a small community. Only later did I realize that the resort sits on a 300 acre property of which 70 acres belongs to the resort. The vast canvas of space gives one a feeling of the perfect getaway from the drudgery of the city traffic and pollution yet being very much within Bangalore.
We decided to check in during lunch time hence enjoyed our 1 hour drive without the hassle of too much traffic. Once at the resort, we were checked into our suite within no time and minimal formalities.
Our suite located on the 4th floor seemed like the best choice especially for a family with kids. The suite opens into a mini kitchen and dining area separated from a den like area packed with recliner chairs, a television and a small desk fitted with one touch lighting.
The bedroom is a seperate area altogether albeit a sensible layout with a attached balcony and a Jacuzzi. The decor of the entire suite is elegantly furnished and can accomodate 2 adults and one child. An extra bed was requested as we were a family of 4 at an additional cost.
Clarks Exotica has 141 tastefully designed rooms created to cater to different types of guests equipped with all modern facilities. In addition to the Club Exotica Suites, they also have Club Exotica rooms, Exotica 1 BHK rooms , Exotica 2BHK rooms and Exotica Executive Suites.
Since we arrived during lunch time, post checking into our suite, we headed to their restaurant – Ambrosia located in a separate building though right across from our accommodation. The restaurant serves buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner with a wide range of multi cuisine dishes . Ambrosia also offers a la Carte menu. The restaurant was a pleasant surprise as the area is well spaced with a central area where the sunlight streams in providing a natural lit environment.
The buffet is centrally placed with the breads, soup, appetizers and main course on one side facing an open kitchen. The cold cuts, salads and desserts occupies an area on the opposite side though not too far away. The lunch was one of the many meals we had during our stay and I was impressed with the different dishes their Chef had in store for every meal.
After a relaxing lunch we decided to take a walk around the resort to get an idea of their different facilities. The resort offers a range of indoor and outdoor activities including Table-tennis, Squash Court, Indoor Badminton Court, Chess and Carrom, Billiards, Snooker, Lawn Tennis, Basket Ball, Cricket Ground and Cycling.
Our evening was spent by the pool with the kids having a ball of a time using the water slides which is not something one normally finds in a resort. Such slides are the norm in water park but the water slides in Clarks are equally good. The water slides are located in the shallow area of the pool which is quite a large area. There is also a small garden play area besides the children’s pool.
Their Coffee Shop “Buvette” is located right next to the pool area and the outside tables were perfect to keep an eye on the kids in the pool area. This area would be the biggest attraction for any family with kids.
There is a another pool located besides the kids pool which is for adults which has sunbeds for those who want to relax after the swim. The whole area is beautifully planned and the view is postcard perfect. Besides the adult pool area is the poolside lounge bar “Illusion” which serves a range of drinks from Martinis to special ‘Twisted cocktails’.
In addition to the above mentioned facilities and amenities the resort is well known for its convention centre boasting of 11 banquet halls, the largest number in a resort in the State. The 2 Lakh square feet of banquet space is equipped with the latest technology and state-of-the-art communication systems. The convention centre is a popular destination for MICE Events and Weddings.
Refreshed after a good sleep and hearty breakfast, we decided to book ourselves for a long deserved spa at their award winning spa “Seventh Heaven Wellness Spa” which offers services inspired by the healing traditions of indigenous cultures. The signature therapies that are offered at the spa are Classical Swedish Massage, Balinese Massage/ Sports Massage, Thai Massage/Aromatherapy, Hot Stone Therapy/Ayurvedic Massages, Chinese Reflexology. More on my experience at their Spa will be up on the website soon.
Persona is the salon at Clarks Exotica that offers everything ranging from skin treatments to hair styling. Within the same building is located their well equipped Gym for the avid fitness enthusiast.
The resort also provides various types of day packages,
- Business Package
- Weekend Escape Package
- Rock The Season
- Family Funtastic Package
- Home Away Home Package
