Specialities of Punjab @ Punjab Grill
Punjab Grill, a fine dining destination located in Koramangala in the heart of restaurant district of Bangalore aims to wow your taste buds with authentic dishes from erstwhile State of Punjab. Their menu serves us a taste of specialities from the kitchens of Lahore, Peshawar, Rawalpindi and Amritsar.
Located at a great location, diagonally opposite Forum Mall in Koramangala the restaurant decor is stylish yet subtle with main colour theme being red, beige and gold. They have a indoor as well as outdoor seating.
Punjab Grill recently had their 5th Year Anniversary Celebrations in a grand way by introducing their 16 course degustation menu. The Signature dishes for their 5th Anniversary Celebrations were curated by renowned Chef -Nishant Choubey.
Being a degustation menu, I did not expect such a lovely and innovative array of dishes. Punjab Grill has been mentioned many a time during discussions about authentic and fine dine restaurants in Koramangala and I was pleased to be present during their 5th Year celebrations.
The night saw a mix of different people from food and fashion bloggers to expats make their way to bring in the celebrations and enjoy the food Punjab Grill has come to be known for.
To start our night, the cocktails menu was an interesting mix with a definite Indian twist. There were around 5 cocktails in the offering and I personally went for the Kahwa Iced Tea
KAHWA ICED TEA
Our meal began with Amuse Bouche , an itsy bite of watermelon topped with black garlic.
And then begun the array of starters for the evening.
FIRE ROASTED COTTAGE CHEESE – One of my favorites of the evening for me.
KHUMB PALAK AUR CORN TIKKI – A simple looking dish with a load of flavours especially the palak.
PAKORAS – Mushrooms served with a citrus sauce.
MATHRI STRIPS – Something different for the vegetarians.
RAAN – One of the best Raan I have tasted. Need I say more!
STEAMED DUCK MASALA POTLI – Quail eggs batter fried.
TANDOORI MUSTARD PRAWNS
PATHAR KE GOSHT- Meat prepared to melt in your mouth.
SOFT SHELL CRAB – I personally love Crab and this dish with its rush of different flavours did not disappoint.
HYDERABADI NIHARI WITH BOTI- A flavourful dish perfect with breads.
RAJMA KICHDI – A wonderful Kichdi to ease our palate from the rich appetizers but a little too salty.
KHATTA MEETHA KARARA CHICKEN- A bit of a hit and miss from this dish for me taste-wise but yet soft and succulent.
OTHERS: There were too many dishes being brought one after the other in quick succession.
PAAN KULFI
To end the meal, we were served Pan Kulfi with Gulkand Chikki which was absolutely wonderful especially for those whose love their Pan.
A unique experience savouring the best Punjab Grill has to offer and I would definitely look to return for their Raan and Paneer dishes.
